Active Release Techniques

We have been recently treating several runners with hip pain. Running should not cause hip pain. Many runners will experience hip pain due to a loss of range of motion of the hip and hyperflexibility of the low back. When the hip becomes tight, the runner may experience low back pain due to an increase in range of motion of the low back. Tight hips can also cause plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, and knee pain due to a forced range of motion outside of the joints normal range of motion.

Tight hips can also lead to plantar fasciitis due to an increase in pronation while running.

Treatments for knee pain, hip pain, and plantar fasciitis include Active Release Techniques, joint manipulation from a chiropractor, and rocktape application.

If you are experiencing any of these injuries associated with running, please contact our office in Berkley Michigan. We treat athletes in Birmingham, Bloomfield, Bloomfield Hills, Royal Oak, Troy, Southfield, West Bloomfield, Commerce, Detroit, Oak Park, Huntington Woods, Ferndale, Madison Heights, Oakland County, Rochester, and Beverly Hills.
